This is a slightly more austere and sophisticated expression among Gulfi's various single-vineyard expressions of Nero d'Avola. The 2013 Sicilia Nerobaronj delivers that same black-fruit ripeness that you get in the other wines; however, the bouquet in this wine is slightly sharper and more focused. Spice, tar and cured leather frame a dark core of black fruit. This is a thickly textured wine for medium-term consumption. The Baroni vineyard is distinguished by clay-limestone soils with white rocks. Only 6,800 bottles were made.
This is a classic cru of the Nero d'Avola grape variety of Pachino. This is a wine in which the lively tartness of Nero d'Avola is at its clearest. Cherry compote and leather, some wild mushroom, spice with plenty of acid leading to a juicy finish.
